Linocut Printing Workshops

Linocut is a relief printmaking technique where an image is carved into a linoleum block, inked, and printed onto paper. Unlike wood, linoleum has a smooth surface that makes it especially approachable for beginners while still offering immense scope for detail, texture, and experimentation.

Our linocut workshops introduce participants to the fundamentals of relief printmaking, from developing a composition and transferring an image to carving, inking, and hand-printing. Taught by practicing professional printmakers, the workshops offer expert, hands-on guidance throughout the process, including how to use carving tools safely, understand positive and negative space, and create their own prints from hand-carved blocks.

The process encourages slowing down and working more intentionally, making it both a creative and deeply tactile experience. Participants also gain an understanding of how linocut can be continued independently at home using accessible materials and tools.

By the end of the workshop, participants leave with their own carved block, finished prints, and the foundational knowledge required to continue exploring the medium on their own.
