About Us
Aaqara En Press is a printmaking studio based in Bengaluru, founded on the belief that printmaking should be experienced by everyone, not just artists.
The studio began in 2023 as Studio Sakura with a simple mission: to make printmaking accessible to everyone and enable more individuals to experience the magic of creating an original print by hand. While the medium is often associated with specialised studios, expensive equipment, and formal art education, many printmaking techniques can be explored using simple tools, thoughtful guidance, and curiosity. Through our workshops and public programmes, we aim to make this rich and rewarding art form more approachable.
As the studio grew, so did our vision. We rebranded as Aaqara En Press, a name that better reflects our evolving practice and our commitment to building a wider community around printmaking.
Since our inception, we have introduced over 800 participants to printmaking through beginner-friendly workshops in woodcut, linocut, colour reduction linocut, screen printing, cyanotype, and bookbinding. Our workshops are designed to be hands-on, process-driven, and welcoming to participants from all backgrounds, with no prior experience required.
Beyond public workshops, we collaborate with organisations, museums, cafés, and brands to create engaging creative experiences. Our clients and collaborators include LinkedIn, BMW, MAP – Museum of Art & Photography, and Smoor. We have also designed and produced print-based merchandise to support the promotion of a popular Kannada feature film.
Aaqara En Press is run by Monica D. Prasad, an artist and printmaker with a Master’s degree in Printmaking, and Vineeth A. V., a multidisciplinary artist, sculptor, and art director. Together, we are committed to creating spaces where people can slow down, work with their hands, and discover the possibilities of printmaking through thoughtful, accessible, and meaningful experiences.
